While the primary
musicians for our worship are the members of the
congregation, a variety of musical
ensembles, instrumentalists, and soloists present anthems and
special music throughout the year to enhance our liturgy, and
proclaim the Good News through the
ministry of music
The Parish Choir is made up of
singers who range in age
from older elementary students, to high school,
to adults of all ages. They prepare music in
a wide variety of
styles, ranging from Gospel, to
multi-cultural music, to anthems of the English Choral tradition. In
2001, they toured Southeast England. All who love to sing, and
wish to learn more about
their faith through songs of praise
are welcome to join.
The
Canterbury Ringers play 3 octaves of handbells, and
participate in worship on a monthly Basis.
The
St Cecilia Chime Choir plays three octaves of Choir Chimes,
which were made available through the Kyle McKennon Cassil
Memorial Music Fund. Open to students
from third grade though high school, prior musical experience is
not necessary. Our
practice sessions incorporate the fundamentals of music, as well
as an understanding of worship and the
role of music in worship.
The
Angel Choir is offered for singers in Kindergarten through 2nd
grade. In addition to learning about music, we learn about our
faith through our songs, and our monthly
participation in worship. New members are always welcome.
The
St Luke’s Consort is an ensemble for instrumentalists who
are fluent in basic note and rhythm reading, and have had at least
one year of band experience. The
Consort participates in worship approximately twice a year. New
members are always welcome.
In
addition to our choirs, St Luke’s regularly presents concerts and
hosts concerts by the Hot Springs Music Festival, the Arkansas
Chamber Singers, the Hot Springs
Music Club, Garland County Community College, and SAL. St Luke’s
is also the home of the
annual Sing-a-Long Messiah.
